John Muir once wrote, “The Sierra, no mountains I have known are so alluring”. This extensive and beautiful region, The Eastern Sierra, where the desert meets the high mountains, was created by a series of ancient glaciers, uplifting earthquakes, erupting volcanoes and more. These forces are evidenced today by visible fault lines, hot springs, glacial valleys and lakes, and volcanic cones and tablelands.
My Eastern Sierras Gallery contains images from my many backpacking trips throughout this region to remote areas accessible only by foot. Backpacking and camping is the best way to capture the golden alpine light that appears at sunrise and sunset. Alpine lakes and streams are a favorite subject as they are particularly photogenic. Enjoy browsing my Eastern Sierras Gallery and check back often, as I take numerous trips to this area throughout the year.
